For all you sushi lovers out there, this ones for you!
Living in Lubbock for the last 4 years, I was deprived of fresh seafood. What can I say I was spoiled eating seafood in Clear Lake that came out of Galveston Bay that same day. Ever since I moved back I have been on a sushi craze, eating it probably 2 to 3 times a week. Sushi is never one of the cheap menu items, so I had to figure out a way to get my fix, but on a working gals budget.
I have done my research when it comes to the store made stuff and let me tell you, it is just as good as majority of the sushi restaurants here in Houston. The only downside is the rolls seems to be a tad smaller and you don't get to order a yummy house salad and miso soup to go with it.
In the past few weeks I have ventured to Whole Food, Central Market, Kroger, and HEB and I think I found my winner last night. It is HEB, to be more specific the one in West U on Buffalo Speedway and Bissonet. Not only was the selection amazing, but one half was for sushi made with brown rice, which is great news to any health nuts out there.
So long story short, if you love sushi as much as I do, shop around at your local grocery stores to find amazing, fresh sushi.

How I Found My Job- Pretty Neat Story!
Like many other people who were or are still in these shoes, it took me awhile to find my job, but lets just say it was worth the wait! I am convinced that my dryer eats my socks just as I was convinced that my resumes were being sent into outer space as I was sending out about 15-20 a week. Talk about low self-esteem, getting those automated resume rejection emails was like getting rejected over and over during a speed dating trial.
While I kept looking, I was fortunate to end my negative cash flow and took a part time job doing HR and Accounting for my friends mom's company. Clearly not my dream job as I know nothing about either but it was a job and her mom was gracious enough to let me work here while I continued to look elsewhere.
Here is where it gets fun. Like most jobs I had to be there at 9 am. So it is about 8:50 and on the radio they announce " Be caller 10 for Kris Allen tickets." Honestly I probably know one of his songs, but I thought hey why not give it a try? So I call and low and behold I am caller 10!
So lets think about this folks, had I not taken this part time job I would not have been up before 9 am to call and win these tickets....
The next week I go to pick up the tickets at the radio station, and I notice a cute office across the hall that catches my eye. After a few hours I am back at home and trying to remember the name of the company across the hall, and thank goodness I did because as it turns out they are an advertising agency. I continue to do my research and come to find this is a well accomplished, award winning advertising agency. At this point, like I had mentioned before, I am sending out dozens of resumes and not even getting a nibble. I email both owners with the mentality of what do I have to do loose and at that point, I had nothing.
I open and honestly describe to them my series of events that led up to me emailing them and me bluntly asking if they were hiring. A weekend goes by and I had even forgot I emailed them because I had assumed I would not hear back. Tuesday morning arrives and I receive an email from on of the one of the partners expressing that she enjoyed my initiative and asking if I would be able to come in for an interview. Pure shock was all I could feel at this moment.
I went in for an interview in which they expressed they were also interviewing 3 other candidates. Automatically my mind thought, well it least it was going to be good interview experience. I knew I didn't stand a chance coming in with entry level experience although I had a great interview. A few days go past and I called to check in like I was asked to do (always ask if they will be contacting you and when you should expect to hear from them) and I GOT THE JOB!
Although this story may not work for everyone, it just shows creative initiative might just get you where you want to be!

Why I am writing this blog.
When I want to know about something, brush up on a current event, or prove somebody wrong I research it. Whether it is a review for a new restaurant or a date and time for a free event I want to know about it, I guess you could call me an information junkie.
Graduating college and figuring out what I was going to do with my life was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. It wasn’t because I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but it was because I did not have an exact plan. I knew I was going to Texas Tech since I was in the 7th grade and life after college is the first time in majority of our lives where we don’t have the next year planned out for us.
I am ten minutes early to everything and I start planning my next meal while I am eating the current one so as you can see I am a planner; it is one of my best and worst traits.
Back to the information junkie side, when I graduated and was on the never ending job hunt I tried to find a blog or articles about girls, who were around my age, journey from their transition from college to real world. I wanted to find something that covered job hunting, budgeting, cooking, etc. and I couldn’t find anything. My hopes and dreams for this blog is that it can help one girl, whether it is with her job hunt of finding a great deal.
This is an experiment on which I don’t know the outcome so bare with me folks!

The Great Coffee Debate
Coffee, to drink or not to drink?
I have somewhat of a love/hate relationship when it comes to coffee. I don't want to be one of those people who depends on it to survive the early morning slump, but sometimes I just need it.
Growing up (still till this day) nobody's day could start in my household unless Mama Wolfe had her coffee. Now that I do want it about 2-3 times a week, it is more of a question of where do I want to get it and how much do I want to spend. I always read those magazine inserts that say something along the lines of " You spent over $300 on designer coffee when you could of spent it on all of this IE new TV, new camera, etc." That is kind of depressing to a shopaholic like me, but at the same time I like going to get coffee, it makes me feel like more of a big girl getting to show off my big girl work clothes, but I am sure this phase will wear off here in the next few months.
So, for us new, working gals I have come up with a system to save. Either make it home or make it in your office. The only problems with this is sometimes I am running late in the morning or there is nothing to make coffee with in your office. One of the best hidden coffee secrets is fast food coffee. It tastes great, it's simple and to the point, and overall it is affordable. I think some of the best places have to be McDonald's and Jack In the Box.

Whole Foods or Whole Paycheck
Dear Whole Foods,
Must you be so good to me and so bad to my checking account?! Love you always and forever.
Yours Truly
I am hoping to get into some health routine. I have fallen into a bad pattern of not really caring about what I put into my body, which is bad, very bad. Living by yourself means there is nobody around to judge your late night Chocolate Bar runs. I am going to start tracking everything I eat to the great world wide web world, so y'all can judge me. I am average height and weight, normal body size, but I would love to be 'in shape' and go back to what my best friend and I call 'high school skinny'.
Baby steps to health....

Am I really doing this?
Well, this might be my third blog I have attempted to create. The first one was to showcase my art, the other was for a project I have yet to only work on in my head and now here is the first one I am actually writing a post for.
Not sure where I want this blog to go or what I want it to do. It might be for my own personal use or maybe to inspire one other person out there.
I am going through a transitional phase in my life right now that does not have to many stories or how to articles on it. I am a recent college graduate trying to find my place in the real world. Fortunately for me, I landed a job, a great one at that in the industry I have wanted to work in since I was in middle school.
It wasn't easy getting to this point, but it was not awful either. As of right now everything is still so new and I am just going through the motions. I somewhat still feel like I am in college, only this time I have a salary and I can't not go to work just because I don't feel like it. I am a big girl now with big girl responsibilities. I am living alone for the first time in my life, weird, but great.
I don't want my blog to have one central theme. It will go in all sorts of directions. It will cover everything from health, music, art, and complaining about the loud people that live above me.
There are so many things I want to talk about and so many questions I want answered, but there has to be some type of flow and I hope to find it as I continue to write more posts.
Stay Tuned.
